Child Care Workforce Retention and Recruitment Funding

The Family Conservancy has received funding from the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation to support retention and recruitment within the child care workforce.

What do these dollars provide?

• Stipend to cover sign-on bonuses for new staff AND retention bonuses for current staff. All funds received are considered income.
• The Family Conservancy will issue a Form 1099 to applicants for funding received.
• Sign-on bonuses should be $500 per each new staff member. Retention bonuses should be $500 per each current staff member. An additional $500 per teacher, who is still employed at the time of the second disbursement, will be distributed using the second funding disbursement.
• Payments will be distributed in two disbursements (June 2022 and October 2022).
• Stipends will be dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis using a tier system based on licensed capacity.

Tiers:

• Tier 1: 45 or fewer children ($5,000)
• Tier 2: 46-75 children ($7,000)
• Tier 3: 76+ children ($10,000)

Who is eligible?

• Center-based providers in the following zip codes: 64106, 64108, 64109, 64110, 64123, 64124, 64127, 64128, 64129, 64130, 64132, 64133
• Providers may NOT receive federal funds, such as Head Start/Early Head Start

Providers that serve the following will be prioritized:

• Providers who serve a minimum of 35% low-income children (Low-income can be defined as receiving state subsidy, receiving free or reduced lunches, and/or living in households with an income of less than $45,000 per year.)
• Providers who serve a minimum of 35% children of color

Applicant Commits to:

• Reporting, via brief surveys, the effects of these dollars by August 15th and November 15th, 2022
