New Look, New Name: The Family Conservancy is Now Futures First

For nearly 150 years, we’ve quietly but powerfully invested in the future of our community — partnering with families, educators, and caregivers to help children thrive. Today, we’re excited to share that The Family Conservancy is now Futures First — a refreshed identity that reflects who we are, the impact of our work, and our bold vision for what comes next.

Why the change?

Since our founding in 1880, we’ve met Kansas City’s most urgent challenges — supporting families during the Great Depression, pioneering mental health services, mobilizing child care during World War II, and helping early educators and caregivers navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, with families stretched and early education and care in crisis, too many children are falling behind before they even begin. We’re leveraging our expertise in mental health, and early education to address these challenges head-on.

Our new name and brand help us communicate this mission more clearly and strengthen our relationships with the families, educators, and partners we work alongside.

What’s behind the rebrand?

The research is clear — the earliest years of life shape everything that follows. But too often, families are under pressure, parents face growing mental health challenges, early educators are underpaid and leaving the field in record numbers, and children are falling behind before they even begin.

In response, we’ve sharpened our focus, clarified our mission, and recommitted to our most urgent work: ensuring every child has the foundation to flourish and every caregiver has the support they need to nurture that journey.

Futures First is built on our Theory of Change, which centers early childhood development and the vital roles that families and educators play. It’s not just a new logo or tagline — it’s a clearer expression of our values, our expertise, and the powerful outcomes we’re driving.

As part of this work, our new Building Futures video series traces our shift toward early childhood over the past 40 years, featuring interviews with past leaders and insights from our evolving programs.

What makes Futures First different?

Our approach is grounded in science, driven by compassion, and guided by decades of experience. We combine our expertise in mental health and child development to help children succeed — mentally, socially, and academically — from the very beginning.

From parenting support and mental health services to early education professional development and consultation, we create measurable, lasting impact by putting relationships and community at the center of everything we do.

What can I expect?

Futures First isn’t just a new name and logo — it’s a stronger, more cohesive message about why our work matters and how we’re driving real change. Our new identity is modern, professional, and designed to reflect the children, families, educators, and caregivers who are at the heart of everything we do.

You can expect more stories — more voices from our community, sharing their experiences, insights, and the impact of the work we do together.
