We are pleased to announce that we’ll be recognizing Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri as the 2024 Betsy Vander Velde Award honoree. The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri displays remarkable leadership in advancing awareness on issues central to that of The Family Conservancy, especially in the realms of early childhood education and mental health. Their commitment to fostering collaboration across the civic, corporate, and nonprofit sectors to spark meaningful change, will help to make Kansas City a better place for children and families.
About the Betsy Vander Velde Award
The Betsy Vander Velde Award honors and recognizes the work of an individual or organization in the Kansas City community committed to improving the lives of at-risk children and families. This award is given each year at our annual gala, the Blue Carpet Event.
The award honors Vander Velde’s selfless dedication to improving the lives of children and families — work which she carried out as the President and CEO of The Family Conservancy for 21 years before her 2014 retirement.
