Your Impact: Saving A Provider’s 20 Year Career
With more than 20 years under her belt as a child care provider, Angela Manning Glass faced some of the hardest obstacles in her life. Despite the challenges, Angela remained completely committed to her families and passionate about providing high quality child care. Throughout her career of being a child care provider she has cared for children from infancy into adolescence, and even welcomed the next generation of children whose parents were previously in her care.
However, with the effects of inflation and outdated resources, such as outdoor play equipment, keeping her program appealing and exciting to new families became even more difficult.
“Many days I was just going through the motions,” Angela shared. “It was hard to stay focused.”
In fact, Angela shared with our staff member, Sandy, that she was even considering closing her business altogether, adding to the rising number of child care programs closing their doors throughout the metro.
Then, she was connected with The Family Conservancy.
“The Family Conservancy stepped in and gave me hope for us to better our business,” Angela said. “They gave me motivation to get things done that I had envisioned for set up. Although we’ve only been in the program for a year now, I feel like a new person — or maybe just my old self. Childcare is my passion and has been for years.”
With support from TFC she now has new material support and resources, and Angela has been able to refresh her in-home child care business. The joy of seeing children play and learn with updated supplies has not only uplifted the children she serves but has also reignited her passion for child care.
“The smiles on the babies’ faces are priceless,” she told us. “I’m sure they notice the positive difference in Miss Angie.”
Angela’s story is a powerful reminder of what The Family Conservancy is here for — to support those who nurture young lives and ensure children have access to high-quality child care.
