  • Young children can not regulate body temperature the way that adults can.
  • Stay hydrated and dress kids in loose, light clothing.
  • Try to plan outdoor activities before the heat index rises.
  • Never leave children alone in the car.
  • Watch carefully for signs of heat illness.
Indoor Activities During Extreme Heat
  • Adapt relay races with balloons
  • Target practice with laundry baskets
  • Painter’s tape: make hopscotch,  an obstacle course, or roads
  • Bring outdoor toys inside
