From Crisis to Confidence

Mary had been staying with a relative while caring for her baby, but when the lease wasn’t renewed, she suddenly found herself with nowhere to go. Faced with limited options, she turned to TFC.

A week later, Mary was working with a case manager to start rebuilding stability for herself and her child. She came to her first session motivated, with goals she wanted to achieve while working with her case manager. She identified two goals she wanted to accomplish: finding housing and finding child care.

With the help of a TFC case manager, Mary was able to get food stamps, secure child care assistance, and be approved for public housing. After learning of her approvals, she showed initiative by reaching out to child care centers on her own, and setting up meetings to visit.

Now, she’s focused on finding steady employment. Through TFC’s mental health services, Mary was able to gain a newfound confidence and joy at seeing all the progress she has made in just a few short months.
